Now you’ve had your baby there will most likely be times of feeling overwhelmed and stressed. It’s a big change!
There’s not been a lot of education, let alone support around the changes that happen to a postpartum body – physiological, chemical and emotional changes that happen.
I understand overwhelm, being a mum of 5, I’ve had my fair share of stress and overwhelm and getting on top of it can be a real challenge when you don’t know what you need, or who can help.
If you’ve had trauma on top of this then stress is going to be a major player in the health of your nervous system, your brain and organ function, how you parent and your overall daily functioning.
Finding yourself stressed you may experience:
negative self talk
feeling like you can’t cope
crying a lot
getting angry at your partner, baby, children
not wanting to leave the house – its too overwhelming
or you want to be out all day to escape the house and then feel stressed the minute you get back home – that was me
