Be as prepared for your postpartum as you are for your birth.
Are you becoming a new mother and want to know how to be more prepared for your postpartum? Maybe you’ve checked off the list: baby clothes, nursery items, pre-natal classes…. however, are you truly prepared for your very special – and challenging – time after your baby is born?
Postpartum is often thought of, especially by many health care providers, as the first 6 weeks after birth. Based on the time it (generally) takes for your uterus to contract back to it’s pre-baby size.
However, your postpartum period goes far beyond 6 weeks. How well you are prepared nutritionally, emotionally and with the right support network, will determine your health and wellbeing, within that initial 6 weeks and into the future.
In fact, it’s believed that how well you are cared for and nourished during those first few weeks will be reflected in your menopausal stage.
Many cultures have in place loving traditions and practices that deeply honour the new mother and allow her to be nourished with nutrient dense meals, keeping her warm and giving her the time to fully rest and recover.
Becoming a new mother (even if this isn’t your first baby) requires some planning beyond the birth plan and that’s what this course is for.
I’m not going to sugar coat it. When you begin your journey into motherhood, you experience massive and the most important changes of your life.
This unique 1:1 (that’s you and me, and I encourage your partner too) 4 week virtual programme will help you be well prepared for your recovery and bonding time, as you adjust to life with your new baby.
Together we will have you eating the right nourishing foods, feeling confident, set with a support network and prepared for a positive breastfeeding experience so you have a smoother transition into your postpartum and reduce your chances of overwhelm, depletion and depression.
At the end of the programme you will:
– be clear about the nutrition your body requires and foods to avoid
– have a plan with help you will need & how to get the help from the right people
– breastfeed with confidence and know when to ask for help so your breastfeeding goals are met
– create a breastfeeding plan with your partner
– have a community of other new mama’s to support, cheer and re-assure you
– feel like you’re thriving, not simply coping
– Meal train set up
– Nourishing recipes
– 10 minute meditation to recharge you as you breastfeed
– PDF’s to print to refresh your memory, including important contact numbers for health services
– FaceBook community (private group)
– Access to me for questions and support (within a set period)
Hear from other mama’s who have completed the course:
“I really enjoyed the face to face (zoom) interaction I had with Tara as my postpartum doula. We had our sessions while I was pregnant. So, to be able to ask Tara questions I had about breastfeeding, planning support and my wellbeing after birth was a big relief and assistance to me emotionally, and mentally. Tara made me feel comfortable and was very approachable in discussing any anxieties or topics I had in mind.” RY – Sunshine Coast
“I would highly recommend this course. Tara’s warmth and approachability helped me to develop confidence and prepare for the breastfeeding journey. Her knowledge and thoroughness has equipped me with invaluable tools and I now feel excited about breastfeeding our little one. Thank you, Tara!” – A.S – Maleny
